While studying, I counted all expenses, both large and small. I will tell you what you have to pay for in the learning process, what small expenses you need to put money on and what you can save on.

The exact cost of training in a driving school depends on whether you will take a mechanic or on a machine. It is a little cheaper to study mechanics, but there are more people who want to, therefore, there are more queues at delivery - you will wait longer. Learn mechanics if you travel a lot and want to rent cars on your trips. Most of the cars rented abroad are with a manual transmission. On the machine, if there is, it is more expensive.

If you are planning to buy a car with an automatic transmission, drive on the home-work-home route and do not need a rental car, take the exam on the machine without any problems. A huge number of people were tormented with training "on the handle", and then they never again drove a mechanic.

A driving school course costs 35-50 thousand rubles. This amount includes 134 hours of theoretical studies and 56 hours of practical training. You can get a tax deduction for training at a driving school - 13% of the cost of training. If you pay 48,000 rubles for a driving school, you will be able to return 6,240 rubles. How to choose a driving school

License. This is the main thing that a driving school should have. For licensed schools, see the traffic police website: here is a list for Moscow, but for the Moscow region.

Address. Choose a school close to home or work, because you will be spending a lot of time in it for the next 3-4 months. The site may be located far from the classroom where the theoretical classes are held. Check that you do not have to go to the theory in Medvedkovo, but to practice in Strogino.

Reviews on the Internet. There is no need to be guided by groups of driving schools in social networks, usually only the administrator posts in them on holidays. Read reviews on driving school aggregator sites, such as Avtobeginner. Remember that reviews can be paid for.

Check to which traffic police the driving school is assigned. Read reviews about this traffic police and look at the examination route. At the Varshavka branch, you can take it yourself: the inspectors do not knock down, the route is not difficult. And in Strogino it's hard to pass, because there are trams and a difficult roundabout on the route. It depends on the reviews whether you will then take your license together with the driving school or detach after training and submit the documents to the traffic police department you need.

Careful with coupons

If you want to buy a coupon for training in a driving school under the "Discount up to 99%" promotion, carefully read the terms and conditions. Most often, after paying a coupon for 3000 rubles, the school will ask you to pay another 40,000 rubles as a fuel surcharge.

By order of the Ministry of Health, from the end of March 2016, for a certificate for category B rights, the opinions of four doctors are needed: a therapist, an ophthalmologist, a psychiatrist and a narcologist. A neurologist, ENT and EEG are needed only if you pass on the rights of other categories (for example, to drive a truck) or if a doctor from the mandatory list directs you to them during the examination.

A therapist and an ophthalmologist (as well as an ENT specialist, a neuropathologist and an EEG) can be passed in any clinic, even in a private one, even in a public one.

The most difficult thing is with a narcologist and a psychiatrist. According to Art. 23, clause 7 of the law "On road safety", examination by these doctors can only take place in a narcological and psychiatric dispensary at the place of residence or at the place of stay.

The driving school, along with the rest of your documents, will transfer the completed certificate to the traffic police. Previously, the certificate was valid for two years, but under the new rules, from March 2016, the certificate is valid for a year.

I underwent an examination in a private clinic and paid 2,500 rubles for a doctor's examination, 500 rubles for a psychiatrist's examination and 700 rubles for a narcologist's examination at a dispensary.

Tutorial and applications with traffic rules

In an amicable way, the traffic rules textbook and workbook should be given to you in a driving school. At my school, they were included in the tuition fees. If for a book and a notebook they require an additional 500 rubles or more, tell them that you will buy it yourself.

A smartphone app is much more useful than a book, because the phone is always at hand. I went through subway tickets, at lunch and before bed. I recommend buying the application "Exam Traffic Rules 2017" from the developer "Riativ-von-ltd". There are versions for iPhone, Android and Windowsphone. The app is free to install, but there are in-app purchases. Access to all tickets costs 249 rubles, the express training program costs 459 rubles.

Additional lessons with an instructor

To learn the route that you will take to the traffic police, you will have to take additional classes. They can be taken from a driving school for an additional fee. In my driving school, you could take at least five additional lessons for 10,000 rubles. Five activities are a lot. It is easier to agree with the instructor about one-time lessons.

Where to find an instructor. There are three proven options:

1. Agree with your own driving school instructor.
2. Search on Vkontakte, in the group of those passing in the same traffic police department - there are usually a lot of instructors and reviews there.
3. Search sites like "Profi-ru" or "Yu-du" - there are many ads of private instructors. I used "Calm-ru".

Usually an additional lesson in Moscow lasts an hour and a half and costs 2000 rubles. In my experience, you need a minimum of three additional lessons on the examination route. Pledge from 6,000 rubles.

Retakes

The first time all exams are taken free of charge. But for retaking driving schools, they take money from the students. This also applies to exams in a driving school and exams in the traffic police.

The amounts differ even in Moscow. I will give an example of my driving school:

• - retaking the internal theory exam - 500 rubles,
• - retaking the internal driving test - 1000 rubles,
• - retaking the theory in the traffic police - 1000 rubles,
• - re-delivery of the site or city to the traffic police - 1,500 rubles.

In driving schools, this is called a car fee. The school really brings its own car to the traffic police department every time. But it is not at all a fact that you will actually take this machine, because 4-8 instructors take exams at the same time. In fact, this is just a payment for the fact that the driving school fiddles with your documents and signs you up for the exam.

In order not to pay for retakes, you can detach from the driving school. To do this, it is enough to come and write an application - you will be given documents. After that, you will need to independently go to the traffic police department, attach to it (hand over the documents), and then sign up for a retake. It's free.

If you don't want to deal with the paperwork yourself, stay at the driving school. If you want to save money, detach, but be prepared to deal with all the bureaucratic issues yourself.

State duty

The state fee for obtaining rights is 2000 rubles. From January 1, 2017, you can pay for it on the website of public services. If you apply for rights also through government services, they will make a discount - the fee will cost 1,400 rubles.

Another way is to collect a receipt for payment on the traffic police website. To do this, you need to choose the branch where you get the license, and indicate your address, full name and passport number. This receipt can be paid at any bank branch.

In Tinkoff Bank, in order to pay the state duty, you need to make a transfer in favor of a budgetary organization. You will have to drive in the details yourself. When the payment goes through, be sure to print the payment order or request the original from the bank's support.

You can also pay the state duty on the website "Payment for state services". Be sure to save and print the confirmation of payment - it will need to be shown at the traffic police department.

What else will help to save on rights

Groups in Vkontakte. Read the donor communities in the same section with you. They publish video recordings of the passage along the examination route with instructor's comments and hand-drawn route maps. Maps have detailed markings where you can park and turn around, all road signs and other details you will have to learn before surrendering.

State services website. Use it to sign up for a license. This will save time - there will be no need to stand in a live queue for many hours for a receipt.

I spent six months and 65,700 rubles on obtaining a license, including training, delivery and all certificates.

I consider my experience successful: I learned to drive, I passed all the exams myself. I planned to do it much faster than in six months, but there are no ideal driving schools, so the process was delayed.

It is possible to get a license without a bribe in Moscow. In my experience, none of the inspectors knock down candidates during the exam: everyone walks down on their own from excitement or lack of experience.

In order not to fall for the bait of such institutions, you should adhere to the following rules when choosing a driving school:

• The cost of training should not be too low, in contrast to the average price tag for such services;
• Before signing the contract, ask if the institution has a valid license with a positive conclusion of the traffic police;
• Pay attention to whether the driving school has a vehicle of the category you need.

Medical report

According to the provision established by part 1 of article 26 of the Law of 10.12.1995 N 196-FZ, in order to obtain a driver's license for the first time, a citizen must pass a medical examination, and after it get it.

Drivers are surveyed in medical institutions(budget or commercial), received in the prescribed manner permission and certificate. Certificates are issued on unified forms of strict reporting and are valid throughout the country, regardless of the place of receipt.
